Girls & Me -- Part 1

I have had my fair share of crushes. In fact I have this tendency to elevate this object of my affection -- at varying points of time, it differs -- on to a pedestal.

This is not a good thing. It has indeed taken me a long time to come to terms with this. And I am glad I have, for I had a premonition of ending up a schizo. To clarify, I meant that building up the images of these girls to the level I have so done in my mind, was putting me well on the road to madness. This sort of mental masturbation will lead to a disappointment on many different levels. I say this with the most positive attitude possible because it is by being pragmatic about these expectations that one can save hours of angst and needless contemplation while you could probably think about say, splitting a muon.

I have found that when I fall for one of these girls, I immediately attach a very high markup in turns of intellect and, well, coital performance. Yes, grimace all you want but I'm not an android! I have always thought that they would be a force to reckon with, that their bedroom antics would blow me out of my mind. But this I am not too sure about. I started getting my doubts about these girls when I realised that they weren't as I thought them to be.

They categorize en masse anyone who reads books of any sort to be a "nerd" or a "geek". They love partying and dancing. These two activities are alright in moderation but every night? I think not. These girls I was crazy about? I'm quite sure they wouldn't have any qualms about sex but they might not be as adventurous about these things as I had thought. You see there are certain factions among women who are what everyone would call "drop dead sexy" and "popular" and project this image about how they are constantly busy modeling or acting. There are also certain factions of foolish men who will kow-tow to these women, showering them with gifts and making sure they get whatever they want. Of course these women lead these men on with the promise of awesome sex. But then the men are like a beast of burden with some edible item hanging off the end of a stick, just out of reach and not exactly attainable. The sex will probably never happen and even if it does, these women will go no further than a few shots in the missionary position. Yikes. Boring.

But then, on the other hand, I have come across women who raise families with great responsibility. The man are usually scoundrels, drunkards, dead or just plain absent. These women often swallow all requirements for male companionship and their singular goals are the well being and prosperity of their children. These women work very real jobs, a daily wage labourer, or maybe even a CEO of a large company. But the mental strength and capacity of these women will put 80% of men to shame, I guarantee. These women truly earn my respect. I salute them, as a belated doff-of-the-hat to women's day.

These are merely two types of women. There are so many others and this thread is not yet over and shall be continued, in all senses. My post may look like it is not driving toward a specific goal, message or purpose but I seek to employ a non-linear approach with my work here, much like Mr. Tarantino and Mr. Nolan. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Until next time,
Dasvidaniya

First

To begin a blog, the first thing that comes to my mind is the obvious question, which any other person in my position is bound to think -- how to make it a powerful statement, something that will make a difference. I say -- how trite! not to mention glib! A blog in the end is what it is -- a blog.

My intent, first and foremost, is to give my thoughts, to articulate them. My motives however, are wholly selfish. I expect this entire exercise to be one of catharsis, and if possible to somehow expose my true self to a complete stranger -- one who will never know me on a daily basis and is sure to not judge me for who I am. These few, if any, will only know me from what I enter here.

Readers who do know me -- I might refer to any of you at some point, and I will be as objective as possible. But fear not -- I shall not name you and even if I do, I will use a letter or a pseudonym. However, I may launch into polemics of some well known people (Roger Ebert, for example). My entries will range from details and minutia of my life as well as reviews of movies, music, artforms and other such activities that may amuse me

Without much further ado, I shall conclude. I hope I do not rant too much. And as in real life, I hope to keep everything short and sweet.
